Nitesh Chawla, PhD, is the Frank M. Freimann Professor of Computer Science and Engineering and the Founding Director of the Lucy Family Institute for Data & Society at the University of Notre Dame. He is also the chair of the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI) Project Development Team focused on Structural and Social Determinants of Health. His research is focused on making fundamental advances in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, and network science. Through collaborations with researchers, community organizations, and international partners, his work is at the frontier of interdisciplinary applications in fields such as healthcare analytics, social and information network business analytics, national security, and climate and environmental sciences. He is an IEEE Fellow, an Associate Editor for the Association for Computing Machinery Transactions on Knowledge Discovery from Data (ACM TKDD), and a co-founder of Aunalytics, a data science software company.
